Lee is responsible for running the Constant Effort Sites (CES), Retrapping Adults for Survival (RAS) ringing projects and the Nest Record Scheme (NRS), as well as providing all round ringing support.  Training in these aspects is also covered by his role in the Ringing and Nest Recording Team.

Interests & Responsibilities

Lee organises and runs the two national ringing projects, CES and RAS.  This includes liaison with ringers over project design prior to registering projects, maintaining the scheme databases, processing data submissions, analysing the data and producing annual trends and reporting outputs, promotion of the schemes (including maintaining the content for the CES and RAS sections of the BTO website) and volunteer liaison.

As an organiser of the NRS, Lee promotes the scheme and offers support to nest recorders to help with the collection and submission of data to the BTO.  He oversees the NRS mentors and nest recording courses.

Lee has been a bird ringer since 2004 and holds a BTO 'A' permit.  He has run a CE Site in South Norfolk since 2012 and has two RAS studies, on Woodpigeon and Collared Dove.  Ringing and nesting are his main passions and he rings a wide variety of birds using various methods, while also training others.  Before joining the BTO he worked for the RSPB on species specific projects, specialising in nest finding of Spotted Flycatcher and Twite.
