Event description
Join us for this year's Northern Ireland Seabird Report launch event!
We are returning to Bangor Castle thanks to Ards & North Down Borough Council and Coffee Cure for a programme of seabird-related talks, tea, coffee and buns.
We will introduce the hot-off-the-press Northern Ireland Seabird Report and celebrate the efforts of our volunteers and collaborators who underpin seabird monitoring in Northern Ireland. We'll also hear from a number of speakers, including BTO Senior Research Ecologist Daniel Johnston about monitoring NI's breeding Cormorants, a species we know surprisingly little about.
Our launch events are a great opportunity to meet other seabird enthusiasts in Northern Ireland, the BTO Northern Ireland team, and to learn more about seabird monitoring and ecology.
Attendees will be the first to receive their very own hard-copy of the 2024 report!
Registration closes on Thursday 20th March.
With talks on:
- An Update on the LIFE Raft Project on Rathlin, by Anne-Marie McDevitt, Head of Species, RSPB NI
- Storytelling for Seabirds, by Ruby Free, author of Rathlin, A Wild Life
- Let Sleeping Birds Lie: Low-disturbance Monitoring of Cormorants Using Camera Traps, by Daniel Johnston, Senior Research Ecologist, BTO
- Northern Ireland Seabird Counts 2024, by Andrew Upton, Senior Research Ecologist, BTO NI
