The recording area for the club comprises Northumberland, North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne.
- Promote the interests of ornithology in the area.
- Provide news of local ornithological interest through the medium of a monthly bulletin, an annual report and other publications to which members will be invited to contribute from their own observations.
- To encourage and instruct younger or less experienced members in various ways, particularly by means of organized field work and monthly meetings.
- To engage in such scientific work, e.g. census or migration studies, as may from time to time be approved by the committee.
Members have the use of a seawatching tower at Seaton Sluice and, of course, are expected to conform with the "Countryside Code"
