Welcome to BTO Cymru

Llyn Ogwen, Eryri (Snowdonia), by Neil Mark-Thomas

A vital voice for Wales

BTO Cymru seeks to give a Welsh voice and perspective on issues that are important for the birds of Wales.

Based in Bangor, our BTO Cymru team work closely with people and partner organisations all over Wales.

These include the Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales, RSPB, Wildlife Trusts Wales, Welsh Ornithological Society and the bird clubs – not forgetting most importantly our members and volunteers.

We need more volunteer surveyors across Wales, to enhance our suite of monitoring and specific projects across the country.

The expertise of BTO Cymru staff in the Welsh countryside and culture means they can help ensure that BTO’s national monitoring surveys and research is relevant to Wales. Rachel Taylor, Senior Ecologist, BTO Cymru

Support the future of birds in Wales

Our surveys are vital. The data they produce help us drive positive change for the very special birds found in Wales.

But increased pressure on funding is putting our surveys and data at risk.
